The Village of West Baraboo is working on a joint-venture to develop the Baraboo River Corridor. The Village entered into a inter municipal agreement with the City of Baraboo, Village of North Freedom and Sauk County.
This first phase of the overall plan, will focus on the river from North Freedom to the State Highway 113 boat launch at Glenville. The plan will identify the strengths and weaknesses of the corridor, current issues, way to improve it via recreation, environmental, and education.
Once this plan is in place, further recommendations and efforts to take it further will be developed to hopefully extend the plan further along the river corridor in the next few years.
The West Baraboo Economic Development and Tourism Commission was recently formed with the goal being “to promote vibrant economic development opportunities and increased tourism to share the beautiful Baraboo area. The commission will provide a mechanism, platform and conduit for open communication, working towards a unified cooperation between the Chamber, Village, City and surrounding municipalities to maximize our effort on economic development, tourism and to brand the Greater Baraboo Area as a destination for all people to enjoy.”
The West Baraboo Economic Development and Tourism Commission will meet at the Village Hall, the third Monday of each month at 3:30 pm. All meetings are open to the public.
