Residents of the Village of West Baraboo

The Public Works Department strives to keep the Village streets clear, clean, and safe.

This is a friendly reminder of our Village Ordinances regarding our winter parking rules and snow removal.

Thank you!

Winter Parking Rules for Snow Removal on Village Streets

  • Within 24 hours after the cessation of any fall of snow, the owner of any motor vehicle parked on a Village street shall remove such motor vehicle.
  • Alternate Side Parking. No person shall park in any public street, alley or highway of the Village between the hours of 1:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. beginning on December 1, up to and including March 15, except vehicles may be parked on the even numbered side of the street on those nights which, at 1:00 a.m., bear an even calendar date, and on the odd numbered side of the street on those nights which, at 1:00 a.m., bear an odd calendar date. This subsection shall not apply on those streets where parking is permitted on one side only or where parking is restricted during the hours of 1:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. on one side only.

Snow and Ice Removal

  • The deposit of any snow or ice upon any sidewalk, alley or street of the Village contrary to the provisions of this section shall be and is declared to be a nuisance. The owner or lessee of every lot or parcel of land in the Village in front of or abutting upon a sidewalk shall clear the entire width of such sidewalk of snow and ice within 12 hours after such snow or ice has accumulated thereon. The owner or lessee of a lot or parcel abutting sidewalks on two intersecting streets shall remove all snow and ice from the sidewalks of both streets, including that portion of the sidewalks bordering the crosswalk, including the entire curb ramp, if any, through the snow plow line to the cleared street, regardless of the source of the snow or ice accumulation. In the event snow or ice shall become frozen so hard it cannot practically be removed, the owner or lessee shall sprinkle the sidewalk with sand, salt, sawdust or other suitable material, and shall clean such sidewalk as soon as weather permits.

Thank you for your help!
